Our farming.

At Mains of Leask, we run a mixed farm, combining several different enterprises that work together to benefit the whole system. For example, our breeding ewe flock grazes our grass pastures for up to seven years. Over time, this builds up soil fertility, so when the grass is later ploughed and the field is used to grow wheat, the improved nutrient levels allow us to significantly reduce the amount of fertiliser required.

Our cereals we grow are fed our own livestock, which are born and reared here at Mains of Leask throughout their lives. This consistency of environment, along with a carefully managed diet, helps ensure calm, content animals and supports a high standard of welfare. Maintaining these welfare standards is central to our approach to meat production, and we believe it is reflected in the tenderness, flavour, and overall quality of our beef.
